The Opportunity:
The Global Head of Procurement is responsible for managing all of TAPI’s addressable spend with external suppliers, as well as TAPI’s facilities globally.
The role is accountable for approximately ~$500 millions of TAPI’s spend with external suppliers. and the management of facilities services in 15+ sites and locations.
The successful incumbent will oversee a team of ~60 procurement professionals responsible for end to end strategic, operational, and tactical procurement activities of diverse types TAPI’s facility management, real estate and corporate security strategies and global standards.
The direct type of procurement spend are active substances and other starting materials, devices and third party manufactured semi-finished and finished goods. The indirect type of spend are all manufacturing goods and services, corporate and professional services, marketing and sales goods and services as well as research and development goods and clinical services. This also includes Energy spend.
While reporting into Head of TAPI, she/he will build collaborative and strategic relationships with senior business leaders and stakeholders across Teva/TAPI to develop and implement best in class, innovative, efficient and sustainable sourcing and facilities management strategies, maximizing added value to the business and enabling TAPI’s continuous growth.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set global procurement & facility long term vision and mission in line with Teva’s (and TAPI) strategy and market competitive standards.
- Set department’s annual goals and objectives in alignment with relevant Business Units to support the achievements of their goals.
- Implement mid & long-term procurement strategy to enable the business to plan and prepare for the different/changing market conditions.
- As a member of the TAPI LT, actively contribute to TAPI’s Global Strategy.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with senior leaders in order to achieve ambitious goals in business growth, cost savings, cash management, sustainability, service levels, digitalization and automation, source to pay and other process improvements.
- Understand internal and external cost generators and costing needs for TAPI’s market.
- Define strategies and initiatives to address total cost of ownership throughout whole product lifecycles.
- Interface directly with Finance to manage P&L and cash flow impact and drive compliance.
- Set project plans and total costing targets that are continuously updated and aligned with global procurement and business needs.
- Utilize the advanced digital tools to establish highly integrated ways of working within the teams and key business units across geographic regions.
- Effectively communicate the impact of sourcing decisions and changes in facilities management to management and employees as appropriate.
- Build strong partnerships with critical suppliers to foster innovation, deliver savings, ensure service and continuous improvement to TAPI.
- Conduct supply market research and regular strategic interactions with suppliers and professional forums to provide intelligence and benchmarks on industry dynamics, trends, best practices and factors which impact category costing and sourcing strategies.
- Advance TAPI Culture for the Procurement and Facility Management professions through mentoring, coaching, training, influencing and inspiring.
- Develop and execute staff development and succession plans. Put in place strategies to attract, develop and retain best talents.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education Required:
- Master’s Degree with a major or concentration in Business Administration, Finance, Chemistry, Engineering or Supply Chain.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 15 years leading procurement teams in global and complex environments in large industrial organizations.
- Experience from the pharmaceutical industry is preferred, however, experience gained from the Chemicals Industry or within Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients would be highly advantageous
- Proven track record of implementing complex procurement strategies and innovative solutions
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, managing multiple simultaneous projects and delivering quantifiable results.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal – the ability to gain executive support.
- Strong Interpersonal/Relationship Management Skills, ability to mentor, manage and develop staff as well as manage/develop suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills and conceptual thinking that drives strategy and creates innovative options.
- Strong business acumen and critical thinking, able to anticipate the impact of decisions and initiatives.
- Superior financial modelling and problem solving skills.
- Excellent supplier negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Travel requirements – International ~25%
